Methodology · Version 0.1

Reliability claims begin with limits.

EnduraIndex organizes exact-model evidence without treating anecdotes as population data. This methodology governs the US robot-vacuum Validation MVP.

The analytical unit

One physical product ownership is one ownership unit. A submission, post, document, or repair note is evidence—not automatically a separate product. Possible duplicates remain auditable and do not silently become additional units.

Publication confidence

Insufficient

No quantitative reliability conclusion. The page identifies what is known, what is absent, and how evidence can improve.

Emerging

Early reviewed patterns may be described, but their frequency remains unknown.

Moderate

Reviewed evidence may support careful directional statements with explicit limitations.

Strong

Comparative estimates may be considered only when independent denominator and eligibility rules permit them.

A confidence state is a publication decision, not a product grade and not permission to run survival analysis.

Evidence classes

First-party UGC

Anonymous structured ownership histories may become canonical ownership units only after human identity, duplicate, timeline, normalization, and eligibility review. Acceptance does not make a record population-representative.

Public Web

Verified public material can support descriptive examples of failures, repairs, retirements, and explicit still-working observations. It is not used as a population denominator.

Dates and uncertainty

Every analytical date retains its source precision: day, month, quarter, year, interval, or unknown. A normalized internal anchor for a year or month is never displayed as an exact day. Silence after an ownership report is not a still-working observation.

Failure and repair

Observed symptoms remain separate from diagnosed or claimed causes. Routine maintenance, consumables, and accidental external damage are not treated as primary qualifying failures. Repair actions must reference a reviewed failure record.

What is disabled

The initial MVP does not publish expected lifespan, population failure incidence, median lifespan, survival probability, survival curves, or a universal reliability score. Commercial offers and merchant fields are structurally separate and cannot change publication confidence.
